Tumaini means hope.

Founded in 2012, Tumaini Women Kenya is a non-profit working with local communities of women and men to holistically provide access to economic empowerment and job skills development; paired with spiritual, social, and physical well-being improvement.

Members connect through local vibrant churches, mentorship groups, and business marketplaces. Locally founded and operated, we proudly find African solutions to African challenges.

Our mission is to come alongside disadvantaged communities and provide hope through life changing spiritual and financial freedom.

Our communities provide a safe place for women and men to have access to low interest loans that aren’t available in the Kenya banking system. We act as a savings account for our members, and offer an opportunity to borrow 3x the account value. As their dedication to saving for the future grows, the larger the reduced interest loan they’re able to take out.

By having access to these funds, members are able to purchase seeds for farming or a "taxi" motorbike to provide transport for local commuters. Women may enroll in sewing courses, gaining skills that will  enable them to become employed seamstresses. Others may use the funds to pay school fees for their own children, helping to secure a better future for them.

TWK’s secret sauces the members themselves. Groups are filled with neighbors, cousins, co-workers, sisters, mothers and daughters — all ready to not only encourage one another, but work together holding each other accountable when it comes to finances. Their commitment to one another goes beyond money. Each carry the other's burdens and desires to see the whole group be successful.

This is the reason Tumaini Women Kenya and the people we serve have flourished for over a decade.

Our TWK Board of Directors welcomes you to our big global family!
